Create Date & Modify Date are system driven dates based on user actions, it wouldn’t make any sense (IMO) to then allow users to modify it directly - that’s not the purpose of those fields in the database. They’re intended to be and should remain event driven.
If anything they should allow a configuration of what events drive those dates getting updated (to your point - export/import) but they absolutely should not allow manipulation of them.
It’s a system integrity issue and I cherish Bear’s stability, it is absolutely rock solid.
Once you start letting users dink with metadata you open up a can of worms all users will have to deal with (and the devs).
That’s why I say you actually don’t want that, it’s just the only way you know to ask for it; they could provide an alternate mechanism for users to get what they want without sacraficing the integrity of the app.
For example, provide the option to sort against a user defined date (separate from the create / modified date).
