Autosave, or ask to save before closing

Autosave, or ask to save before closing. Edited files often stay in “Edited” status for quite a while (I’m not sure if they are indeed autosaved). Would be great to make autosaving the default and make it clear when the file is saved!

On macOS, documents save automatically as you go. There’s no real “Saved” state to show, because your changes are already on disk almost immediately. “Editing” / “Edited” just means the document has changes since your last explicit save point; it’s not a warning that anything is unsaved. So basically it’s telling you “you’ve made some manual edits,” and it’ll clear once you manually save. This is the default macOS behaviour As for “Begin Editing” / “End Editing”: they just move …
