Bear 2.3.11 is here with new features, fixes, and a little extra polish. 😉 ## **📖 Read-Only Mode** Sometimes, you just want to read your notes without accidentally editing them. With **Read-Only Mode** , you can scroll through your thoughts and ideas effortlessly—perfect for focused reading or quiet reflection. To enable it, open the ⫶ menu and select **“Make Read-Only”**. You’ll see a read-only icon appear in the top-right corner. When you’re ready to make changes again, just click or tap the icon and select **“Make Editable.”** ![read-only mode](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/flex013/uploads/bear/original/2X/1/1dadb5c10624e00d0055b1841f9c8ed3c003d2ea.png) ## **🎹 4 New Themes** Introducing **Shibuya Jazz** , **Shibuya Lo-fi** , **Everforest Light** , and **Everforest Dark**. Shibuya Jazz and Lo-fi are two similar themes as _Dieci_ with absolute black `#000000` background, perfectly designed for **AMOLED** screens. The Everforest light and Everforest dark are based on the Vim theme [Everforest](https://github.com/sainnhe/everforest) made by [Sainnhe](https://www.sainnhe.dev/), bringing you a warm and soft tone with mild contrast. I really like the idea of “Read Only Mode”. I will definetely try it out. Thanks for adding it. ---

Thanks for this update. Things I dig: - Read-only mode is useful for preserving my index notes (ex: “Home” in Forever ✱ Notes) from accidental fat-fingering - The `@empty` search operator is helpful. It solves some of [my pain from empty notes being auto-saved](https://community.bear.app/t/preference-to-not-auto-save-empty-notes/13207/2), as I can make a fool-proof shortcut for cleaning them up (the shortcut that the community suggested would not work if the empty note contained any carriage returns). ---
