hello everyone! i’m migrating to bear from notesnook. in this moment I heavily depend on folder structure to keep my notes. once Bear uses tags for that i’m willing to adapt. however, in a first moment I would like to import my existing notesnook folders as tags to keep my structure on bear. i tried and it ignores the folders and imports only the actual tags, so that leaves me with 600+ notes without a structure that i currently can manage. is that possible? is there another way to achieve this first organization?

Many thanks and congratulations for the wonderful app.

When importing notes from a file system with a folder hierarchy (such as Markdown files on macOS), Bear does not automatically convert the folder structure into a nested tag structure upon a standard import. All imported notes will initially appear without the tags reflecting their original location. However, you can use the **`File` → `Import From` → `Markdown Folder`** option on macOS to import markdown files and their attachments. The notes are imported, and a common practice to mimic the original folder structure is to:

1. **Manually apply tags:** After importing, you would need to manually apply the relevant tags (e.g., `#work/projectA#`) to the notes to create the desired organization within Bear’s system.

2. **Use workarounds/shortcuts:** Some users create custom Apple Shortcuts or Automator scripts on macOS to process files in a folder and automatically add a specific tag during the import process to an inbox, but this is a more advanced workaround.
