I agree. You move notes to the Trash to delete them. They in turn go to the Archive to retrieve them from there at any time. When retrieving them, however, itās extremely useful to search for specific notes using a tag structure, rather than searching through an endless list.
I think that with the current workspace feature, this would be a unique opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Thereās no denying that this request has gained some popularity. But now thereās also the option of integrating the feature into an existing UI.
Actually you can search easily through all archived notes: just select archive in sidebar and use the search field. However, search alone is sometimes not enough when you want to explore a note and you donāt know the exact keywords for. There is a difference between exact searching and explorative browsing. The latter one fits better the way my mind work.
Actually thatās not what I was asking for. Where should the tags be displayed after clicking on archived? Rather than that I asked for having the archive as workspace in the workspace pick up menu
Workspaces is an excellent new feature. After some time, I just realized why workspaces was initially not working as expected for me. If you keep, within bear, a note with the general tag structure to map out tags in bear, then this note will sit in every tag and subtag. Then, a workspace filtering for a tag will still show other tags where this note is sitting, because it includes your workspaceās tag. This is relevant for people keeping a tag structure note. One should remove it to make workspaces work properly. Alternatively, it would be useful to have an option to exclude notes from workspace views.
Iām super confused - sorry (and I can see from here that everyone else understands it, so itās clearly just me). I love the idea of being able to separate work stuff and home stuff and clearly most other people do.
At the moment although I use Bear a lot, I use search when looking for a note Iāve made and I donāt really use hashtags, so everything just lives in Notes. However, even after making #work a workspace, I can still see those notes in, errrā¦ āNotesā.
In order to get this to work as intended do I need to tag everything else as āHomeā (or similar), make Home a workspace and then I just basically live in there and the work stuff wonāt appear?
Yes. The idea of using workspaces to separate contexts of your library, but āNotesā is above all workspaces and includes all the notes and their tags.
The same problem that I and some other Bear users have been talking about before, that bearcli gives access to Bear notes to any non-sandboxed app on the Mac (Iām not sure about sandboxed apps). See e.g. this topic.
