As title. I made a tag into a workspace but now no longer need it as a workspace but want to keep the tag with all its notes. How can I undo the conversion to workspace?
You can right-click on the tag in the sidebar and select Dismiss as Workspace or select Notes in the menu next to the top element of the sidebar.
Thanks for the reply. However, in Bear 2.9.3 on Mac this right click option doesn’t exist. I can dismiss the workspace from the menu bar but that only returns me to Notes. It doesn’t remove the workspace property from the tag.
I’m not sure what you mean, can you please tell me more?
I mean that I want to convert the tag from being a workspace back to being just a tag. I no longer need this tag to be a workspace.
The “dismiss workspace” command doesn’t do this. It only returns you to Notes view.
That’s the same: „converting the tag from being a workspace back to being just a tag“ and „returning to notes view“.
Sorry to be picky but: to me it isn’t the same. If, having dismissed the workspace, I then click on the up and down arrows to the right of Notes I get a list of Workspaces and under Recent it shows the workspace I dismissed. That looks then as though the tag still exists as a workspace. If it didn’t exist I would expect it not to show up. (Also, if I then select that workspace and click on the arrows I get the list of workspaces with that one ticked.)
However, I’ve noticed that if I go to the tag itself and right click it I’m offered “use as workspace” which suggests that the tag is no longer a workspace and corresponds to what you are saying.
So there’s real confusion here.
Each tag exists as possible workspace but just one tag can represent a workspace. You just have to choose it to be one. Under “recents” in selection pop up you will find just quick links to tags which were recently chosen as workspace. No more, no less.
