Hi! I have been using Lettera quite intensively during the last month, and really love it! So much, in fact, that I have migrated all my notes out of Bear to a fully on-disk files approach. And it is great in the age of AI agents, since they work seamlessly with this approach.
My main concerns:
- New-File Behaviour: When no docs are open and you open Lettera, it always insists on re-opening the Lettera iCloud container. This is quite an annoying behavior and very much against the main reason for Lettera (vs. Bear) of being a normal Markdown file editor. The default behavior should be configurable to:
- Open a new blank document
- Open a default “project” directory (can be the Lettera iCloud container or another user-selected one)
- Open the open file picker
- Quick Look Preview Extension: This, I think, is an important one: if we are now working with files directly on-disk, we should have a way to easily peek at the files. Lettera should include a QL Preview app extension so we can quickly preview Markdown files without opening them.
- Dark Icon: I guess this is a Beta thing, but the Lettera dark icon looks terrible in Dark mode. And it is super-low contrast (see the screenshot attached with the current Lettera Beta dark-mode icon vs. a quick-and-dirty custom icon I created so it can be at least usable).
- iOS App: We really need a nice Markdown file editor on iOS, Lettera would be so welcome there.
Thanks!
