- Bear Version: 2.3.6
- OS Version: Mac Sequoia 15.1(24B83)
- What were you doing: Trying to export a note with the title below:
The “20230103” in the title is a link to another note, inserted via [[ feature. - What feature did you use: Export a note
- What happened:
In the pop-up window where users can name the file, the “20230103” is ignored automatically:
- What did you expect to happen:
In previous versions, the file name would be “20230103 Vault Leasing Agreement”
This is connected to a recent choice we made regarding note titles with wiki links in them. It was possible to circle linking notes in the title and have those updated when one of the titles changed. This might result in glitches but also potential crashes and data loss.
Hi,
Do you mean that it’s not suggested to put wiki links in the note title anymore?
My scenario is I have daily notes with the dated title such as 20241202. If I need an extra note for the same date, I’ll link the 20241202 in the title and add more details in the title. For example,
- Note 20230103 for general notes
- Note [[20230103]] Leasing Agreement for notes I would like to save separately.
With the recent updates,
- When exporting [[20230103]] Leasing Agreement, the 20230103 will be ignored. What I need is to have the plain text note title as the file name, is it still possible?
- When searching, the [[20230103]] is ignored as well.
Let’s say I originally had notes:
a. 20210103 Leasing Agreement
b. 20230103 Leasing Agreement
They are now both displayed as “Leasing Agreements” in the search and note list. Hence, I won’t know which is the one I’m looking for unless I check them note by note.
I appreciate the continuous feature updates but it shouldn’t affect the original behaviors. I really hope the original behavior can be reverted. Otherwise, I have thousands of notes to update and remove the wiki links.
