Two requests for the Bear MCP server

Hi,

Thanks for adding the MCP server to bearcli, this is very helpful! I have two suggestions for features that I would find helpful (or, perhaps, I’m just not figuring out how to use it correctly):

  1. The ability to force the mcp server into read only mode. Some agent harnesses give precise control over what mcp tools can be used, with detailed permissions, some do not. I’d like to be able to run bearcli mcp-server --read-only to force Bear into a mode where the agent can read but not change anything in my notes.
  2. I don’t see a way to read note attachments from mcp. It would be helpful to be able to do this.

Keep up the good work – Bear is fantastic!

A read-only flag could be useful. I will take a note about it. Attachments can’t be accessed through the MCP due to the protocol design. If you have an AI that can use the command line, like Claude Code, then it can access the attachments using the bearcli command directly.

Ah, okay - makes sense. The read-only flag is more critical to my mind anyway. Thanks for the response!
