- Bear Version:2.4.5
- OS Version: iPadOS 18.5
- What were you doing: Dragging Apple Mail to Bear 2
- What feature did you use: Drag email to Bear
- What happened: Never get the green + button
- What did you expect to happen: expected (and sometimes did) get the green + button and successfully dragged and dropped
- The feature always works on Mac.
- The feature works about 40% of the time on iPad.
- I use Split View and implement the dragging from the list view of emails in Apple Mail.
- If the drag and drop fails, I then have tested whether it’s Apple Mail by replacing Bear in the Split View with NotePlan, Notes, or Things-that always works as expected.
- Since I don’t see anyone else having an issue with this, I have really tried hard to figure out if I’m not grabbing the mail correctly or if Bear is not in the right state to receive it. I always make sure I’m editing a note and I’m dropping it into a section of the note with other content above and below it.
- I’m at a loss. Thoughts?
I’m also experiencing the same issue on both iPadOS 18.5 and iOS 18.5
Bear Version is 2.4.5
The problem has existed for several months for me.
Like you, I drag and drop Apple Mail items to several other apps and they continue to work fine.
My workaround since first experiencing this issue has been to add a blank line where I wish to drag/drop the Apple Mail. This works best in split screen mode.
- This was not previously the case
- Nor is this the case for the other apps I drag/drop Apple Mail messages to.
- It’s not perfect but gets the job done for me.
FYI, The problem exists for other Drag/Drop compliant apps. E.g. I drag URLs for Apple Books items into Bear notes and I need to apply the same workaround.
If the drop fails, I always add a blank line to ??maybe provide a better target? But it still fails more than it succeeds.
Hello,
Oddly, we can never make drag&drop work from Apple Mail to Bear, and we don’t have a customer behavior for it like we have on macOS. Can you please send me a screenshot or a note reporting the result of a successful drop from Mail?
Please see attached video recording. Strange indeed.
