I’ve subsequently seen there are some references to this happening for 2.3.2 also, and there being a download provided that bypasses the issue.

Will this be fixed in the App Store version at all?

We are waiting for news on Apple’s side but meanwhile you can use this temporary solution

As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, this version of Bear no longer works for me on Big Sur 11.7.10. The app opens but notes text appears at the bottom of the screen UPSIDE DOWN. Still waiting for some guidance on how to fix this.
