For a while now, I’ve been using an app called Reflect to save my thoughts and random stuff as I walk around. But I’ve given that up, and I want to use Bear as my singular PKM.
What I do miss is the ability to record it on my phone and then add it to a daily note at the end of the day. Triage that can everybody recommend a way that will work on both Mac OS and iOS and hopefully Apple Watch? Where I can add to my daily note for a given date, and once midnight hits, Bear automatically adds to the next day’s note. I’m not too fussed about a calendar view, but some way of having a timeline would be useful.
@bearmacho@Winson My understanding is that you want to record a voice note and add it to a note reporting the date of the day. If this is the case, the above can be done within a Shortcut that can be triggered in many iOS and macOS locations (lock screens, Shortcuts widget, action button, …) but not on watchOS.
If you are interested, I think I can build this Shortcut pretty easily.
Thanks for this @trix180 .
For context, I suppose for me the needs here are two:
a ‘calendar view’ as a default way to create and review notes by created date (basically in a chronological format) as oppose to the workaround of manually creating a note with the date in the title (and perhaps tags to categorise months/years)
This is one of the main features that currently prevents me to fully migrate to bear.
a ‘speech to text’ feature - allows for a very snappy note taking experience without having to manually type. I can appreciate this is not in scope of bear notes at the moment, and I’d be happy to find a workaround (e.g. shortcut with a separate text to speech app)
I agree that a daily note calendar would be nice. It is one of the few things I miss from Obsidian since I left to come back to Bear. I agree that I don’t want Bear to become bloated, but some sort of aesthetically implemented calendar would be nice. Right now I am creating my daily notes manually which isn’t a huge deal really, but does take a little effort/thinking.
I also agree, built in calendar notes and integration would be amazing. Most notes I take are related to calendar events and the rest are daily notes. I really like Noteplans integration of the ability to click an event and have it open to a note.
I also wanted a calendar like the one in the popular Obsidian third-party plugin, but I don’t think it fits Bear’s design philosophy. I’m in favor, but I guess most users and the devs are against it.
