Voice Memos in Bear

Hey!

Could you please implement a way to record voice memos directly in a Bear Notes? Just like you can in Apple’s built-in Notes app. It would really help reduce friction tremendously for people who work with both, as we could just stay in Bear and do all the work!
It doesn’t have to be anything fancy at first. I just want it ASAP! If it could use Apple’s own Voice Memo App, that’d be amazing, although I’m unsure if that’s possible from a technical perspective.

Thank you so much!

If you want to record voice notes and then access them within a note-taking app like Bear, you would typically use the built-in “Voice Memos” app on your phone to record your audio, then either copy and paste the audio file into a Bear note, or use the “Share” function to send the voice memo directly to Bear where it will be transcribed into text depending on your device settings; essentially, “Voice Memos” is for recording audio while “Bear” is the note-taking app where you can organize and access your voice memos as text.

I think you’re misunderstanding the feature that I’m requesting. The feature I’m requesting is already available in the built-in notes app. It enables you to record directly into notes, making it easier for individuals who work with both.

Exactly the same thing as in Notes is available in Bear. Edit->Start dictation. If you have a hotkey set up for it, it will work the same in Notes and Bear as well.

But I don’t want to dictate. I want to record and play voice notes within the Bear app. Please look at the screenshot example.

Bear doesn’t have a separate button to directly record audio, instead relying on the device’s dictation capabilities.

Well I know that’s why I’m asking for that feature to be added. A lot of people would love it!

Try this Shortcut – maybe one step closer:

Haha I tried that one! It makes a new note though, I’d love to add multiple ones to notes I’m working on!

Copy the note-id before you run this shortcut, and it will repeatedly append your recordings to the end of that note.

I made another version of the shortcut that copies the voice recording to clipboard and then opens bear to whatever note you are working on, but Bear doesn’t allow us to paste it  (even though Apple notes does allow for paste from the same shortcut)

But it’s a workaround, I agree.

I also really wish they’ll add voice insertion natively in Bear, like Apple notes has –

@trix180 @matteo what do you think?

Hi again,

While waiting for a native Bear Voice memo function …

Here is another Shortcut for Voice memos that copies the voice file to Clipboard and opens Bear with current note, to paste Audio file wherever you want it:

Bear Voice Insert | Shortcuts

Works on Mac, but I wasn’t able get it to work on iOS ;(

My Mac died sadly, so I only have access to iOS! :frowning:
Thanks for trying anyway!
I’d like it to be native though because if you have to run shortcuts might as well just have voice notes open next to it!
