Uninstalled Bear from mobile and desktop, reinstalled on mobile, restored from a backup — still got all the second copies
Hello,
Do you restored a bear backup or a time machine backup?
A bear backup that I put in my Dropbox
Restoring from the backup resets your online on offline library to the backup state. I wonder if the backup contains the duplicates.
Create a copy of your backup, rename the extension .zip and uncompress. Inside you’ll find a textbundle for each of your notes. If you search for a duplicated note title, can you find both files inside the backup?
Yeah, here they are — with added “2” (I have much more actually)
So the reason is a somehow defective backup?
Yes. I suspect the notes were duplicated in Bear at the time of the backup, but I can’t be sure.
If you search for 2.textbundle
using Finder in the uncompressed folder, you should easily delete the duplicated files (mind some note titles might just end with 2
). At this point re-compress the folder, rename it as .bear2bk, and re-import.
Thank you, that did the trick
