Bear seems to have gained the feature of applying single quotes, double quotes and brackets around selected text when the user makes a selection and types one such character. This might have some use cases, but it makes the basic act of editing existing text into a frustrating minefield of rogue autocomplete actions.
When editing a paragraph, I routinely use the keyboard to select words or sentences that I am going to replace, but if that replacement involves certain punctuation then my intention is overridden so Bear can unhelpfully toss in a closing punctuation mark. It’s possible I’m missing something, but I can’t see a way to disable this.
The expected behaviour here has to be that the selected text is replaced with the thing you type. Applying quotes, brackets, etc to selections should require more evidence of user intention.
