I would like the “Preview in Marked” feature added, similar to Bear. Marked is useful for additional styling and exporting.
Oh, interesting, Marked so early ![]()
Since you ask, what part of manually opening a file do you find most cumbersome? After all, you could get by with dragging into Marked to get the preview going. (To clarify for other readers who get here mostly.)
Imagining you never had the Bear experience, what would your ideal integration feel like? You start in Lettera
and now you want better printing, so … (what happens next)?
I usually drag files to Marked via their proxy icon. But it’s a two-step process here, since the proxy icon isn’t visible until you click the document title. In my case, I often work with documents that are on iCloud Drive, but that I open from iA Writer, so it’s several clicks to get to them in the Finder.
In my case, it’s often to use HTML generated by Marked from articles I write in Markdown, which then go into a CMS. Exporting to HTML then opening the resulting files is a multi-step process that is more cumbersome than just copying the HTML code from Marked.
Just fyi there’s a setting to make proxy items always visible. I believe it’s in accessibility (there’s tons of useful settings there to reverse Apples recent and obnoxious tendency to want to hide useful ui affordances). I’m in Sonoma, so don’t know how it works in Tahoe or even in Lettera itself.
The article below shows the setting in Monterey but I believe it’s still the same
Currently, you have to click a file name in the title bar to show the proxy icon. It should be visible at all times.
Do you mean in Tahoe or in Lettera? Even with the accessibility setting turned on?
In Lettera in Tahoe, with the Accessibility setting on.
Accessibility > Display > Show window title icons
I hope that helps! If I can be of additional assistance, let me know.
That still doesn’t show them in Lettera until you click on a title.
It does for me in macOS 27 Golden Gate
Interesting. It’s too early in the beta cycle for me to install it.
Rather than a “Preview in Marked” option, a built-in read-only mode would be more valuable, like Bear does.
- Keeps everything in a single app, no need to switch to Marked for a clean view.
- Locking a document in read-only avoids accidental edits once a note is finalized.
- The files are plain independent Markdown, so anyone who wants Marked can already open them from the Finder. A dedicated integration feels less necessary than a real read-only mode.
