I attach a lot of PDFs to my notes, but they’re mostly stuff I need to look up later, not something I want to visually browse. Having them show up as a preview every time is unnecessary clutter, especially when a single note has multiple files.
What I wish is the compact inline view as default when I drag and drop PDFs into the app. The problem is that Bear always defaults to the full preview, so I end up manually switching every single PDF I drag in.
Two possible solutions that would make my life (and hopefully also other users’ life) easier:
- A preference to set the default display mode for PDFs, either preview or inline.
- Since I know that adding a preference is not always the cleanest approach, we can have Bear remember my last choice. If I set a PDF to inline, the next one I drop in should follow the same style. If I go back to preview on one, new files pick that up instead. Basically just stick with whatever I did last.
Either way, it would save a ton of repetitive clicks and give more control over how notes look without adding complexity.
