I remember that in the previous version of Bear many years ago, we had an option so that when you add a PDF to a note, you could choose to see it as an attachment instead of the PDF preview.
I am not finding that option anymore, is it gone? If so, any chance you add it back? Thank you!
Take a look into the context menu of that preview
I know you can change it once the PDF is in. But what I want to do is change the default, so every time I drag the PDF into a note, it imports as an attachment.
Ah ok! As far as I remember this was discussed several times but it is still not possible to set a default appearance
+1 for this as a preference setting. Good idea.
There is nothing the bear devs hate more than settings.
The fact that a preview is shown is probably due to the obvious assumption that the majority of users prefer to see a preview.
What about this suggestion?
- Bear starts with the preview as the main setting.
- However, if the simple display is selected five times in succession via the context menu, Bear asks whether you want this as the main setting. If yes, then it will, and it will return to the display with the preview as the main setting after this display mode has been selected five times again via the context menu. If no, then bear waits 10 times before it asks again
- the nice thing about the solution is that if you don’t change your preferred display so often, this nag screen won’t appear at all or just once if you prefer the simple view.
Oh my. Yeah, that’s a simple alternative . I think the OP has a great idea and give a +1 to the much simpler user preference.
Yep. An option is definetely the better way imo.
