Lag in Chinese Pinyin method

    Type in Chinese pinyin method as usual.

    N/A

  • What happened:

    When using the Pinyin input method in Bear App on iOS, I’m experiencing constant stutters and lag while typing. This doesn’t happen with other input methods, nor does it occur in other note-taking apps. This occurs from iOS 26.0, been a long time….

  • What did you expect to happen:

    Type smoothly.

Is this happening on specific notes or just any note? Are you using the default iOS keyboard or a third-party one?

Good to see your again @trix180!
In my experience, it happened on any notes, included new note that just created.
The keyboard is built-in, under Keyboards / Chinese, Traditional / Pinyin - QWERTY.

No problem, it’s a iPhone Air with iOS 26.4.

I use Pinyin regularly for both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. No issue so far. You might want to troubleshoot your keyboard settings.

Some suggestions from a Reddit post via a quick Google search:

  1. Reset Keyboard Dictionary: Navigate to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone, then tap on Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary
  2. Disable and Re-enable the Keyboard: Navigate to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards and then swipe left on the keyboard name, and tap Delete. Then, re-add the keyboard by tapping Add New Keyboard

I just tried these step and retry, unfortunately still happened to me.

In another iOS apps like Notion, Things or build-in Apple Notes, in my experience they works well. Maybe something happened in Bear app….

Anyway, thanks for your suggestion! @citrus !
