I note that at least one thread is considering using Lettera to edit documents made by another system. I currently store my markdown in Git. I want to use Lettera to edit those documents.
However, I cannot find the option that allows me to tell it where to look. At the moment it is looking in the Lettera folder in the Lettera folder inside documents.
How do I direct it to open to a different folder and show me all its contents
I used Bear when it was first released but moved away to other options. I always liked the look but there are times when I want super basic, ie I want to see my markdown rather than any rendering of the markdown.
Does Lettera have a toggle that allows me to switch between the markdown and the rendered view?
If at first you don’t succeed, read the instructions. I now found the mechanism for using different folders.
However, the file open approach did not work for me. It opens the file I select but the file/folder browse panel did not appear on the left side.
Dragging the folder from Finder worked

This is big news. Been looking forward to this and I have a project right now that’s a very suitable test candidate.
For me, it also touches upon a bigger problem I’m having with modern apps. The operating system is still built around the file system: folders where you can gather different kinds of files around a project, topic, or theme.
But many apps now work inside their own isolated environments. That gives them more control and allows for better app-specific features, but it also breaks the broader file-based workflow. Instead of organising my material around the thing I’m working on, I’m forced to organise it around the app that created it.
That has felt like a conflict ever since apps started moving in this direction.

Was so glad to see this posted on Mastodon a few days ago and really happy to give this a test run! it’s currently in the Dock along Typora as my default .md readers and editors. Loving it so far and it might become my go-to. Great stuff so far!

It would be awesome to implement Logseq-style hierarchical bullet-nodes, where every line acts as an atomic data block with a unique ID that visually highlights its position in the hierarchy, allowing users to collapse/expand lists using Tab / Shift+Tab and quickly reorder them via drag-and-drop or keyboard shortcuts.
