Long time Bear user here. Even played with Panda a while. I’ve since moved elsewhere (several different note taking apps) for my daily driver, but still maintain my Bear account and keep some fringe/specific topics there. This is mainly to keep up with features. Really exciting news about the connectors/MCP/CLI and workspaces.
It’s been about 2 years since I’ve last audited my process and I’m about to embark on a new round. If I’ve missed this topic somewhere, please let me know…
I’m curious about what the intentions of Lettera are vs Bear. Will the features of Bear/Lettera be in close parallel, or will they diverge?
I would like to include Bear (or Lettera) in my process reevaluation as a candidate. Lettera seems to be following a trend of others (Reflect, etc.) of getting back down to basics (collections of local Markdown). And making it far easier to connect your knowledge base to external tools/LLMs for some real advanced work. This is exciting.
Obviously Bear is far-more along than Lettera/Panda are. And sync is a managed feature which has always worked well. I’ve yet to try the new features (which will be part of my audit). I’m just curious as to whether I should be evaluating Bear (as-is) or Lettera (as-planned). I’m not part of the beta, so I really can’t dive into the experience.
Thoughts of others? Especially those familiar with Bear, and are also in the Lettera beta?
