Please add the ability to add color to text

I know this has been asked for before, but it’s 2025 now and still no color.

PLEASE add the ability to add color to headings and other text.

2025 doesn’t mean anything. Many requests are pitched and never see the light of day because there is high chance it does not fit Bear’s design philosophy. Think about Bear’s core around Markdown and pitch examples on how it would be implemented. Here are some things to consider with this request because it’s way more complicated than it seems.

  • Does this make the app simple or more complicated?
  • How many colors?
  • What would the Markdown look like? What Markdown characters are used to wrap the text for the colors? Would these characters affect other aspects of portability. How messy would the Markdown look surrounding a word with colors, highlights, underlines, bold, etc.?
  • After choosing and using a keyboard shortcut to add a color, what kind of window would appear to change colors since there won’t be room to fit all options on the keyboard?
  • More important, how would these colors blend with the current themes? Right now they are balanced with the highlights and callouts.
  • What would the color of text look like in a highlight or a callout? Would work or be ignored?
