Scan document question

If I scan a document through Bear the resulting PDF is a full, non-cropped file. But if I use Apple scanner though Files it crops the image to the scanned file. Are there settings in Bear that I am not seeing?

I very much would prefer to scan directly in Bear but I would like the result to be cropped.

Bear scan (non-cropped)

Apple scan

There is an auto/manual toggle in the top right of the viewfinder image.

I’ve never had to use it as it must have been set to on for me but this enables it to find the document edges.

Scanning into Bear I always long press the icon, works great.

Thank you. I just tried that but the resulting scan is still the fulll page.

Works for me on my phone every time although I just noticed it fails every time using iPad.

AFAIK there are two ways to get there. Doing this from memory as although I have my phone I don’t have a document with me now.

First

  1. Long press the Bear icon and choose ‘Scan Document’
  2. In the top right of the view finder it should say either Auto or Manual. You want Auto
  3. You May have to move the camera nearer or further from the document but it should highlight the edges and then when it thinks it has it right it will take the picture.
  4. When you see the cropped document you are given the choice to retake or save.
  5. It opens the new Bear note with the scan in it.

Second

  1. Inside a note click ‘BIU’
  2. Follow 2-3 above.

As I said the iPad appears to have a big as even though it highlights the edges of the document correctly it then previews the whole picture.

Which ever you use you can then scan other pages.

That’s the word I was trying to use. It looks like it does get the edges fine but the issue is with the preview. So I was doing it like you describe but I found out it finds edges just fine with auto, but I guess the issue is with the preview and I thought that it was ignoring the edges when it saved.

If I scan with Apple scanner in Files it get the edges BUT when putting in Bear the preview only shows the edges without all of the extra white.

Devs, could it be modified so it only shows the part with the “edges” and not all of the extra white?

In addition to it, not looking very nice. It takes up a whole bunch of extra space.
