Search notes Shortcut Action results in a phantom Bear window in macOS

  • Bear Version: 2.9.3
  • OS Version: macOS Tahoe 26.6.2
  • What were you doing: Trying to automate something via Shortcuts
  • What feature did you use: The action ‘Search notes’ in Shortcuts, combined with a ‘Repeat with each’
  • What happened: The action works completely as expected, but when used while Bear isn’t running, it results in a ‘phantom’ window of Bear that is visible in Mission Control, even after the Shortcut is finished. Not a huge deal, but it results in some odd behavior when accidentally opening the phantom window.
  • What did you expect to happen: No phantom window of course

It’s happens even with the most simple shortcut (did some troubleshooting), but ‘Search notes’ seems to be the root of the problem. By the way, the action ‘Search notes’ has a wrong translation in German. There it is ‘Nach Tags suchen, die…’ instead of ‘Nach Notizen suchen, die…’

I wonder if the ghost window is rather a macOS glitch. Have you tried to reboot your Mac?
Also, are you using the action with the “Open In Bear” flag on?

Thanks, this will be corrected with the next release.

macOS glitch might also be the case of course. Just tried rebooting my Mac, but the ghost window still appears afterwards. “Open in Bear” flag is deactivated. If I add a ‘Quit app [Bear]’ at the end, the ghost window disappears of course, but this has some other unwanted consequences.

In case you’re interested and want to try it yourself: I just made this really simple Shortcut and – boom – there’s the ghost window again:

And thanks for fixing the translation :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
