This is a major source of frustration for me. I really want to just pop in and use Bear quickly and I have a couple of docs that have very simple tables that help me stay organized.
But the width limitation is really annoying here. I have to go here and click on the little scroll bar and scroll back and forth and I only have a few columns here.
I’m not exactly sure what you should do about it. I imagine you’ll tell me that I should go use something like Excel but that is totally overkill for my needs and means I need to use another app.
Maybe there’s a “note width expands with tables” option that can default to off in order to preserve Bear’s aesthetic for typical notes?
This worked! I had no idea that this even existed. I’ve always appreacited the aesthetic enough that I assumed the typography section didn’t include things like line height and width so I didn’t even look here.
I don’t see that option on the app. I’m using Bear Pro on the latest version of Mac OS (desktop), and I don’t see “preferences” anywhere. I’m sure it’s right in front of me, but the ability to resize table columns would be helpful.
The problem is that it’s a workaround. Line width has a optimal length for readability which is affected by that setting. I’d love if the the table was able to expand beyond the text column and be wider. This would allow me to keep the optimal line length whilst keeping tables more usable.
