On December 18, 2020, there was a blog post by Bear about the editor version two Alpha test coming soon. Bear version two didn’t release until almost 3 1/2 years later.
Last week there was a blog post about the eighth birthday of Bear and that the web version Alpha test would soon start.
Can we expect the web version final release to take several more years as well?
I know the devs generally don’t give dates for obvious reasons, but it would be nice to know if I can expect it in the time of this years subscription, next years etc.
We will see, but there are reasons to be a more optimistic about the web timeline. The Bear 2 alpha was testing only the editor component if I remember correctly, and it was also an early test to see how the changes from Bear 1 would be received. There was much left to design and build overall.
The Bear web app is already much more complete, and there is less questions about what features to add and how they should work as we try to make it as close to the Mac version of Bear as reasonable (providing the limitations of the web platform).
Hi @rexikan, will the alpha testing of the web app start in this year or are you targeting next year for alpha testing. Also will we be getting the final stable release of web app in next year ?
I absolutely love Bear but not having my notes accessible on my windows work laptop is kinda a blocker for me. I can’t even switch to other app as every other app feels clunky after using bear, bear is simple and other apps feels like too much effort. Hope we get some news on web app soon
Awesome, thanks for the update. Any chance you can add me . I take notes regularly on bear (mac, iPad, iPhone, apple watch) and can test every bit of the app for you. Also I spend around 60% of time on a windows work laptop during weekdays.
