Attachments Lost when Encrypting

Hi there,

Updated to 2.4 on my two devices, and encrypted a test note. The encryption worked on iOS. The note synced, and showed as encrypted on MacOS. Opening note to view on MacOS showed no contents (normally, 2 images). I could still view it on iOS at this point. Closed + reopened both, didn’t change anything.

Decrypted the note on iOS hoping to sync back to MacOS “normally” before retrying encryption, but in decrypting it, the note now has only 1 image working, and 1 note working. Essentially, in the list view, the note has two attachments with the thumbnails visible - but when viewing the note, there is only one image in it.

On the desktop version, that “broken” image shows a blank placeholder:

Unfortunately this makes me nervous about how many other images I may potentially lose with the new encryption.

Hello there!

Thank you so much for the report.

Today we have investigated the matter and found two issues: one related to the encryption cache invalidation and the other to how the dates of files are handled on the File System. Both these points could be related to your case. Now we have solved them.

Tomorrow we will be continuing the investigation and will update Bear as soon as possible with the fixes.
