Back-link Panel Freezes on iPad

On iPad, when I open one particular note’s backlink panel, none of the numerous backlinks appear and the app freezes. Eventually, (maybe 30-60 seconds) the backlinks for the note will appear, but the app remains frozen. If I switch away to the outline or wordcount panel, the app unfreezes and can be used, but if I return to backlinks, the app freezes again.

As far as I can tell, it’s only this one note with this problem. I can access the backlink panel of this note on iPhone and Mac without any issues.

Any ideas on what’s going on?

  • What did you expect to happen: Back-inks would appear and the app wouldn’t freeze.

Update: I figured out a little more about this problem. The freezing up happens only on iOS devices (iPad and iPhone) when unlinked mentions are toggled on and the note name appears frequently in my system. I have about 5,000 notes in Bear, so this is actually a performance issue on iOS, not a bug (the Mac app has no lag with unlinked mentions on common note names).
