Bear Quick Note

Hi guys,

This may be embarrassingly straightforward, but I’m struggling to find this option baked into the Mac app, and I’m struggling to make Shortcuts perform it.

Is there a way to open a new quick note in a separate window in the desktop space I’m currently using and assign this a shortcut key?

I can open a new note when Bear is the active application, I can create a new note with shortcuts, but this always opens a note back in the main Bear window.

What I want is a small new bear window to open and for me to just start typing in my current desktop whilst doing whatever I am doing.

Any guidance is gratefully received!

I would also love this option, but until then,
maybe this simple plain text Shortcut will cut it?

Quick Note for Bear v.1.2 - 2025-02-24

First line will be title (preceded by `## `) as H2
(You can dhange this to H1 (`# `) in the two text fields below … )

Type everything else as plain text Markdown

Notes are tagged as #.quicknotes
(change in Create Note action below)

Keyboard Shortcut: ⌥⌘B

This shortcut, although only plain text markdown input,
works on Mac, iPad and iPhone without opening the Bear app:

Download and Install: Bear Quick Note - Shortcuts

This shortcut opens a new note in a separate Bear editor only window (with all the bells and whistles), floating on top (MacOS only):

Bear Quick Note 2 - Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcut: ⌥⇧⌘B

Change keyboard shortcut or #quick-notes tag as you please :sunglasses:
