Behavior of the swipe-to-go-back gesture

I don’t understand why no one is addressing the absurd behavior of the swipe-to-go-back gesture in Bear for iPhone. This simple, frequently used gesture has become unnecessarily difficult. I can’t comprehend why the developers decided to change the original iOS behavior. Every time I stop using Bear, it’s because of this issue.

In Bear, the swipe-back gesture only works if performed perfectly in a straight line, and it doesn’t work at all during scrolling. This is incredibly frustrating. Please restore this gesture to follow the standard iOS implementation, as seen in Apple Notes and other apps.

I understand that apps designed for both iOS and Android might have inconsistencies, but Bear is exclusive to the Apple ecosystem. There’s no justification for this deviation. It needs to work seamlessly, just like other native iOS apps.

I am not sure that this is a Bear issue. I have this issue with many other non-Apple apps on my iPhone. I saw this with iOS17, and it seems to have gotten worse with iOS 18.

Hi Dan, I don’t think it’s from iOS. I really wanted feedback from the developers to understand the meaning of this. This behavior doesn’t make any sense.
