Clicking a wiki Link breaks the interface (iPad)

  • Bear Version: 2.6.3
  • OS Version: iPad OS 26.1
  • What were you doing: Whenever I click on a Wikilink.
  • What feature did you use: Wikilink
  • What happened: The interface of the notes “breaks” and the editor behaves weirdly. For instance, the content of the note moves to the center, the slider doesn’t appear anymore, and when I move on the note, part of it disappears. I have to close the app and open it again, meaning wikilinks don’t work for me on the iPad.
  • What did you expect to happen: The note appears normal and nothing weird happens.

You can see more or less in the video the behavior: in the first part, I just relaunched the app and then clicked on the wikilink and it happens; it doesn’t seem so bad there, but it kills the flow and I have to relaunch the app for the normal behavior to come back, since otherwise it remains so with the other notes as well.

Thanks for reporting this issue. While I’m a little unsure, I can’t replicate this issue on our development version and I suspect this has been fixed along with other text view state issues in the upcoming 2.6.4 release.

Thanks for your answer! I just updated to Bear 2.6.4 and sadly the bug still exists. Just did a new screen capture where you can appreciate it better. Thanks for your work! Apart from that, loving Bear.

In the first seconds, the behaviour is still normal. After clicking the link, however, the bug awakes.

Hier is the link to the video, where you can watch it online (since it was to heavy for the upload here –it is only a Screen recording): Proton Drive

(It is only on the iPad, not on the Mac or iPhone; I’m on an iPad Pro M4)

I’m experiencing exactly the same issue in Bear 2.6.4 (iPadOS 26.1 on an iPad Pro). When I tap a wikilink, the editor shifts, the scrollbar disappears, and the layout becomes distorted. Only fully restarting the app restores normal behavior.

I’m now on Bear 2.6.5 on an iPad Pro M5 13”. The issue is still present. Since I use Bear mainly on my iPad, it affects my workflow quite a bit. At the moment, the only reliable way for me to open a wikilink is by avoiding tapping it in the note itself. Instead, I open search with CMD-O and manually type the target note’s name. That’s the only method that prevents the editor from breaking.

Just wanted to share this additional context in case it helps with identifying the cause.

Hello. This bug appeared the same to me, so I found this post while searching. As a result of implementing it on the iPad mini I have, I found out one thing. This bug seems to appear when using the trackpad on the keyboard on the iPad. I’m using a magic keyboard dedicated to iPad, and when I removed the iPad from the keyboard and used the app only with touch, the interface did not break even after clicking on the wiki link. Even with the magic keyboard attached, the screen did not break even if I clicked the wiki link with the screen touch. However, these bugs only occur when you click using the trackpad. I don’t know the reason.

Not quite the same, but when on iPad in full screen, clicking on a link of any kind can sometimes cause the interface to draw all over itself, with panes overlapping each other and other weird behavior. I have to close the window to get back to normal. This most often happens after clicking on a link that opens Safari, and then returning to Bear.
