Since updating today, I cannot open certain pages due to app crashes (all devices). A commonality between these notes may be that they contain certain images and PDFs (hard to confirm when I cannot see inside the notes, but definitely an issue with png files).
I think it might be png files that are the issue, which may be embedded in some PDFs and not others. I have also found that I can open many notes with PDFs, but not all.
Which version are you talking about? I am using 2.3.6 on my ipad and iphone and things work fine. I just downloaded 2.3.7 on my mbp and the app will not even launch. I reverted to a previous version from a backup and things work again. If the reason for the crash of 2.3.7 has something to do with the active displayed note, the note that was open was one I had drawn a diagram in using the bear drawing tools. Perhaps that is helpful in running things down. At any rate, I reverted to a previous version and things work. I am not going to upgrade until this is addressed.
Latest public version on all my devices, updated today.
Confirm I’m having same issue on 2.3.7. App crashes on iOS and iPadOS whenever opening a note with a .pdf attached. Haven’t tested yet on Mac.
We’ve identified and resolved an issue affecting PDF files. A fix has been submitted to the App Store and should be available within 24 hours.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Just to add to this…
I am getting crash when trying to add a sketch to a note. I know that this is using the png to render sketch into note view, so it is probably related to reported issue…
Same problem over here. MAC OS Sequoia 15.1.1 with Bear 2.3.7
App crashes every time I want to start it, since i drew an image in the App on iPad and synched it through the iCloud to my Mac.
Are you sure, it’s just an issue with PDF?
Update: I tested it. If I start Bear on my Mac and open a note with an image, it’s instantly crashing.
Update 5.12.: Installed Bear Version 2.3.8 and it works as it should. Thank you very much!
Quick update: The iOS and macOS updates are now live on the App Stores. If you’re experiencing crashes, you can update manually to resolve the issue.
