- macOS Version: 26.6.1
- What were you doing: typing
- What feature did you use: editor
- What happened: data entry very slow and the more I type the slower it gets where I can’t see what I’m typing. - watch video
- What did you expect to happen: smooth data entry that keeps up with however fast I’m typing
This just started happening and with further research I discovered that I had the same MD file opened in another tab; so, 2 tabs open with the same file. Another file in a tab works fine, that was the clue. This is repeatable on my machine at least. I still added the video simply for reference but unless you can’t repeat the bug, you’ll have the video.
Now, do I have a use-case for it to be opened in multiple tabs, not really but you never know. What I didn’t try was opening it in another window which if that works maybe that’s the implementation answer but then these windows can get lost or confusing. On the other hand, if I really wanted them displayed in two windows that might be the answer, just not sure why I’d need it. In that case, if the tab is already open and I try and open in another tab, simply make the one that’s already open active. My two cents.
Update: I tried opening the same file in another window, typing is slow there too.
