Edit Notes Externally - Seeking Clarification

Can someone explain what is happening when I do this in Bear? I was playing around and dragged a note from the left sidebar into Sublime Text (or another text editor), and it looks like I could edit it. I tried, and it didn’t work. I didn’t think it would, but I’m wondering what is happening when I do?

The changes made in the external editor didn’t reflect in Bear, but I was able to save the file in the library path (see image below).

Did I mess something up and now there is an orphan file in Bear’s library, or is it ignored and I don’t have to worry about anything?

Bear’s data is stored in a SQLite database in /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Group Containers/9K33E3U3T4.net.shinyfrog.bear/Application Data/database.sqlite. Dragging a note to another just creates a copy and is then outside of Bear, just as if you had dragged and dropped selected text from a webpage.
