Find and replace with word boundaries and case matching

In case this hasn’t been asked. It’d be nice if we could indicate testing for word boundaries (and since I’m here matching case) for the find and replace.

I just did a replace from screen to form and updated screenshot to formshot which isn’t what I intended.

I just found the ignore case option… And I grabbed a copy of Bear to see what might be possible and see that it doesn’t seem to have a word boundary option either. Sooo, I’ll manage my expectations.

Just add a space in the find part

A space is a word boundary. But so are a lot of other characters.

Some workarounds until Lettara includes more search/replace patterns:

  1. Open .md file in Apple TextEdit and do search and replace there. It has a lot of options for patterns:

And:

  1. Or use free version BBEdit, it also has powerful RegEx search and replace.

I would also very much request that Lettera adds TextEdit-like search/replace patterns in future betas and final release.

I use BBEdit daily. Asking for an “Open in Editor…” command would be rude. But, yes, that’s a workaround.
