Open Folder = New Window

Currently, if I open a new folder, a new Window is opened which means I now have 2 windows with each pointing to the top-level Folder I had opened. I think I’m starting to get the sense of where you’re going with this Editor. I explicitly mentioned Editor because you’re not trying to create a whole structure around managing or viewing files.

Let me explain, I was thinking that it would be nice to use the sidebar as a place where all my Open folders (top-level) lived and I could then navigate that but once we start adding more nice-to-have features the app is no longer just an editor and now we have a file system mgr too.

I’m torn because I see that each top-lever folder (the one I Opened with) having it’s own window and sidebar with as many child folders or files as needed. I could merge all the windows and then each window lives in it’s own tab a MacOS capability so easier to implement and maintain and that’s all on me, the user - that seems acceptable. I was thinking that I wanted to merge all the open folders into the single sidebar initially, now not so sure.

I have another feature/bug which I will post in a separate topic related to open windows. On this one, is this close to being the finished version when it comes to handling these folders and sidebars or are you still taking feedback in this area?

thanks -tom
