Multiple windows on reopening app

I’m not sure this is a bug so adding this as a feature.

If I open 2 or more folders, each lives in its own Window. I could merge all these windows into a single window with Tabs too.

When I close the app, the last window that had focus (was active), is the one single window that is presented when reopening the app.

Would you consider reopening all windows that were open when the app was closed and/or all tabs when app closed?

I am most likely going to have at least one Folder in iCloud and another on the local Mac which I would want reopened in the state they were in when the app was closed.

I think it’s really important if an app restores open windows on relaunch that it restores all windows and/or tabs. That’s how all Apple apps do it, and probably most Mac apps.

Hmm, that’s not the case for me. Example:

  • 2 app windows
  • one has 4 tabs
  • one has a single Welcome to Lettera document open

If I then quit the app and reopen it, both windows will show up. I’m curious if you have this checked in your macOS system settings:

Some apps override this through their own configuration, others seem to follow this system-wide setting.

That’s what it should happen already, if it doesn’t then it’s a bug. Can you share exactly how do you open window and what you can see before quitting the app?

thank you @JVG that was it and interesting because I never saw this before at least with the Apple apps (safari, Numbers, etc). They always restore every window even when the setting you circled (last one) was enabled.

@matteo once I disabled the setting, all windows and tabs are opening as you indicated.

Great! Lettera by design is made to be a good citizen on macOS, so we’re following all the system settings and behaviours (when it makes sense).
