Table of contents

I recently realized that both Confluence and Obsidian can auto-generate a Table of Contents from a document’s hierarchy of headings. I love that and have been using it quite a bit.

That prompted me to go looking in Bear, where I realized that the Info panel always shows a ToC panel! That’s awesome, but also quite buried. I’ve love to be able to insert a widget at any point in the document that would generate a full ToC at that point.

While certainly not as elegant I have a Shortcut that does this and copies the results to the clipboard and I paste it in the note.

You could do this with [ format>toggle all headers ] and working your way through manually with wiki links to individual headings, or a second note where you paste the headings in as plain text. Both pretty time consuming. I’d be interested to see the workflow @bolive worked out in shortcuts b/c if you’re doing this all the time it may be worth it to work out an automated solution
