[Tester wanted!] Bear Web Beta update

I really want to participate as a tester for the Bear web version. I work in an environment that spans Windows, Mac, and iOS. Because of Windows alone, I have been using OneNote instead of Bear, but I believe that with a web version, all of these could be consolidated into Bear.

I have been waiting for some time to be able to access my Bear notes from my work mobile phone. At the moment I’m making do with Board Tools and then transferring them to Bear by hand on my MAC. So it would be great to be able to participate in the beta test.

Everyone around me uses Apple devices, so I have no issues using Bear. But at the office, I have to use Windows only, which means I can’t access Bear. That’s why I’m considering switching to Obsidian. If I had the chance to test Bear for Web, I wouldn’t have to worry anymore. I really hope I get selected as a tester…

I’d like to be invited to test Bear Web, please. Thank you! - Dan

Hey there, would love to get involved with the web version !

I would like to try the beta version. Thank you!

I’d love to participate

Yes please - like to try it!

I would like to try!

Can I apply for testing? A hardworking employee urgently needing to bridge Windows and Mac?

It breaks my heart to even suggest it, especially as I love Bear and all the work the devs have done. Unfortunately that is exactly when successful apps are acquired by much larger companies.

Just look at it logically:
For Bear to really compete they would need to expand, grow, develop, implement, overwhelm, infiltrate, respond to and fix every single thing that popped-up in the coming months and years, while keeping up with latest technologies, trends, feedback and current events and wants, in all the languages of the world, on every platform, while also constantly re-innovating what they are already doing.

Just the metal work alone is overwhelming. Actually having the resources to implement and make that happen successfully is :exploding_head:.

And yes, they ‘could’ attempt it, but why?

Bear is a beautiful app and the devs are freakin’ incredible and I am always blown away by the gutsy simplicity and ‘it just works’ ease-of-use Bear offers. But, unless facilitating that forever is the devs’ lifetime goal, then it would be wiser to pass the project to a corp or company who can handle all of that, while they (Bear team) possibly move on to a new project.

All of that is truly speculation but it’s offered with hindsight and an understanding of the power of great apps and ideas.

Now, all of that can be completely obliterated if Bear’s creators are solely focused on the longevity of Bear and making it continually the best app of our lifetime.

Unfortunately recent actions, such as proving the interest of its users in beta testing, don’t follow that idea.

Has anyone actually been hired for said job?
Then why post the offer?
They aren’t required to.
And why give us hope when based on the numbers, it’s more likely that we’d win the lottery than be the ‘one’ that gets hired?

Maybe Bear will prove me wrong.

Hey there! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and care for Bear, it really means a lot to us to have people this invested.

We just wanted to clear up a couple of things, since it seems there might be a misunderstanding. At the moment, we’re not hiring anyone (maybe in the future though  ), and we haven’t posted any job offers anywhere.

As for our Bear Web Beta testing program, it’s completely volunteer-based. It’s an opportunity for Bear fans to get early access to the web version, try it out, and share their feedback with us. This is a very important part of how we grow and improve. Since small teams like ours don’t have massive QA departments or unlimited resources, we rely on passionate communities to help test, suggest improvements, and spot issues we might miss. It’s thanks to our wonderful testers that the web experience has been steadily improving, and we’re super grateful for that.

About the future — we’re not considering being acquired. We love being independent. It lets us keep our simple ways, focus on what we care the most and build Bear in the thoughtful, careful way we believe in. We do follow trends and new technologies, but we’re not interested in adding things just because they’re trendy. Everything is carefully discussed and considered — if it’s right for Bear, if it benefits our users, and if it fits the experience we’ve worked so hard to build.

That’s also why we don’t chase becoming an all-in-one tool. We believe in Bear being simple, safe, and beautifully crafted. Yes, being a small independent team means updates may not come as fast as those from huge companies — but we believe it’s that extra thought, polish, and care that makes Bear special to us, and hopefully to you too.

We hope this answers your doubts and questions. Thanks again for taking the time to write and care about Bear — we appreciate having people like you in our community.

Thank you.

This was very informative and kind and I am grateful for your time and reply and definitely stand corrected. And I am happy about that.

Bear is loved and I admire the app and its devs even more now.
