Update: Changes on Bear Crash Reporter with 2.3.5

Hello! I wanted to give a heads-up to our macOS users especially those who use apps like LittleSnitch to monitor what’s happening on their Macs. When you update to version 2.3.5 (coming soon to TestFlight) you might receive a report from network monitoring apps.

Here’s what’s going on:
Apple has a built-in crash report system, but it only sends us crash logs if users have opted in when setting up iOS, iPadOS, or macOS. Unfortunately, this means we only receive reports for less than 10% of all Bear crashes on XCode. This makes it difficult for us to be notified quickly when something doesn’t work as expected. To address this, we have been using AppCenter to collect anonymous logs, but it will be closing in February 2025. Fortunately, we’ve found a new solution: Sentry.

Don’t worry, nothing’s changing regarding privacy and security. Your crash logs will still be completely anonymous, and the data sent over remains the same.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
