The long-awaited MIB is here! No, weâre not launching a secret agency, but we are bringing you Math in Bear! Whether youâre a student working through calculus, a researcher outlining a theory, or teachers preparing science class materials, Bear now lets you write and display clear, beautiful formulas right inside your notes.
How does it work?
Math in Bear uses familiar LaTeX syntax, powered by MathJax. To write a formula, simply use LaTeX syntax wrapped in $...$
for inline formulas or $$...$$
for block formulas. On iOS, you can also quickly insert math formulas via BIU keyboard.
As you type, Bear shows a live preview of the rendered formula beside or below your formula so you can check the result in real time. Once youâre done, Bear hides the raw LaTeX to keep things tidy, just like Bearâs hidden Markdown.

Why this matters
We wonât give you a lecture on the role of math in human progress as we are sure you already know it matters. But what we do know is that math plays a big role in note-taking for academic, technical, and professional work. Itâs often complex, and we believe it deserves to be written clearly and beautifully, right inside Bear.
And if you donât need math? It wonât get in your way, just like the rest of Bear features.
