Bug? Spellcheck Not Working Properly

Hello! I’ve been a Bear Pro user for a while now and love it. However, my spellcheck feature is not working correctly. When I go to check the box for “Check Spelling While Typing,” it does not activate. It also does not make corrections unless I manually have the program check for errors. Here is a video example of what is happening. Thanks for all you do! (NOTE: I searched for a similar issue for a while and didn’t find anything. If there is a solution that I missed, let me know!)

Thanks!

Hello! Can you check if TextEdit has the same issue? I’m afraid Apple made some changes to the Spellchecker service and it’s not behaving correctly today.

I checked, and TextEdit has the same issue. Bummer!

I just wanted to give an update that I upgraded to MacOS Sequoia and still having the same issue. There has to be some setting that is blocking this feature for me somewhere on my Mac. Really odd!

Yep, having the same issue after updating to macOS 15 (Sequoia).

I am having this same issue!

Just noticed this today on the Mac. M4 Mini, latest public release.

Checking in to see if this issue has been resolved as I am currently having this same issue and the options for even checking are now not selectable for me. Thanks!

If you reboot your Mac do you still experience this problem?

Yes. I’ve tried on two of my laptops, and both do not have functional spellcheck.

Please tell me the macOS release you are running

Sequoia.

I still have this problem, has there been a solution foundt to this?

I have rebooted both the app and the whole system (and both are up to date).

Checked TextEdit - yes, it has the same problem. But many apps don’t (e.g. Claude)

Also, I’ve been testing LanguagueTool, as it has wider range of languages supported in comparison to say Grammarly - are there any plans to integrate with it? (like Ulysses for example)

My system is set to Polish in case it makes a difference.
