Button for making sidebar disappear

I’m using both Bear macOS and ChatGPT macOS apps a lot in discussions with customers while sharing my screen. In both apps the sidebar with recent notes/conversations contains often private information, I’d like to hide quickly without having to remember shortcuts.

You can just swipe on your trackpad, or just capture the selected area of the screen. Easier than a shortcut or button.

I’m sharing my full screen with customers and I have no trackpad.

If the main point is HOW QUICKLY to close the sidebar THEN a hotkey is definetely the best mean

I agree with you @gerrit – and I have also asked for this in the past: like the non-intrusive > button that is there on Bear iPad and iPhone:

Specially when using a mouse to navigate and not having the keyboard close, I wish that this button(s) (circled in blue below), also could be available on Mac:

It also has the convenience of closing/opening both side bars at the same time – swiping (if you have a trackpad) you have to do twice for both panels to open or close…

What do you think @trix180, @matteo, @zowiewho and @rexikan?
