What were you doing: using 3rd party app to render output of MD
What feature did you use: Lettera Editor, using tab key to center images
What happened: 3rd party says MD treated as Code Block due to indentation
What did you expect to happen: 3rd party app renders MD correctly
I believe the MD code below is ok except that it’s indented because I did that. The entry below is from the MD code the Lettera Editor generated and is being treated as a code-block. In most cases there’s a blank row before this and sometimes another line right below it with text. I was told it is an issue with the MD code.
I’m just passing this along because your representation in the editor and your PDF export are working perfectly and are the best looking as compared to other tools that are reading your generated MD code and choosing how to render it.
Unless you see something, I’m assuming the 3rd party app is simply not rendering it correctly and I’ll either work with them or move on.
correct…I spent a lot of time getting page breaks to work and not lose any data. The images were coming and going mostly because it wasn’t a priority until we had the page breaks working and then thought it might be a permissions thing.
I’m a little disappointed since I really only needed the page breaks and I bought the lifetime version which isn’t a big deal if I’m going to use the app. As it stands today, the PDF export out of Lettera provides the best looking PDF output even without the page breaks which are pretty important to me.
I really don’t want to have to adjust every image (100+) because Marked isn’t handling them correctly. I have some images that have not been resized within the Editor and they seem fine and they still have a width tag on them; so, not 100% what the issue is other than the ones I resize I tend to tab them to center. I’m going to play around and see what happens but there are other little things like the Callouts were matching what Lettera has now they don’t and Lettera will export any image preview if enabled whereas no one else that I know of does.
Quite honestly, I’d prefer one-tool, one process and overtime I believe the Shiny Frog folks will get there for my needs anyway (just need the page breaks in the PDF output).
@kirkmc I removed my tabs that I used to center any images or even links and it renders correctly in Marked but that’s not how I wanted it. It seemed like it was working in one of the earlier versions. The tabs are what Brett indicated too so it’s not the comments (e.g. width tag).
It just means for these docs it’s not going to work for me. If all text, it’s probably great but that’s not what I have right now.
I could export as .docx and use Pages to insert my page breaks and adjust any embedded assets but that’s just such a waste of time. I could have just used Pages but I’m loving using Markdown and especially Lettera. The Lettera PDF export will work except for the preferred page breaks and someday it will be addressed.
