IPad keyboard navigation changed?

Bear iPad v 2.6.4

IPadOS 26.1

There seems to be something broken with keyboard navigation after Liquid Glass update. From official keyboard guide:

  • ↑ and ↓ keys - Move the selection (note list, tag list)

  • ← and → keys - Move the selection between the sidebar, the note list and the editor

  • ↩︎ - Start editing at the end of the note (editor)

A few examples:

  1. If I end editing with cmd+Return, I expect for the notes list to get focus (as it does on Mac). It does not. Instead, hitting up or down puts the caret right back into the editor.
  2. Same, if I end editing with cmd+Return, I can’t get back to editing with Return.
  3. Left/right doesn’t seem to move between sections at all UNLESS I tap on a tag in the sidebar first. Then I can move to the right incrementally to get to the editor, but there’s no obvious way for me to get back to the sidebar.
  4. If I start my navigation by tapping on the sidebar and press →, I can see the marker appear next to active note. But if I move back to the sidebar with ←, I won’t see a visual indication that sidebar has focus until I try to move up/down. If I remember correctly, the UI used to dim/fade colour from sections that did not have keyboard focus. This doesn’t seem true anymore.
