I’ve noticed for a while now that the Mac app seems to use an increasing amount of ram after remaining open for a few days, often exceeding 1GB. Apart from Safari with multiple tabs open this often makes it the heaviest app (in terms of ram usage) on my system. Is this just expected usage or is there something else going on? I am running the latest Bear (2.2.2) on MacOS Sonoma 14.5 on an 2018 Intel MacBook Pro 13.
Hello,
1GB is not the expected memory Bear should take. Have you recently imported a lot of notes or attachments? If this is not the case I suspect the issue might be the database file but you can try to regenerate it by following this procedure
- Quit Bear
- Run a backup
- Delete/move this folder on your Mac
~/Library/Group Containers/9K33E33T4.net.shinyfrog.bear
- In Finder, you can hit CMD+SHIFT+G, paste the path, and hit Enter.
- Re-open Bear and let it sync all your notes.
- If you are not a Pro user, restore the backup

I haven’t recently imported a lot of notes or attachments. I’ll try your suggested fix. Thanks.
So I tried your suggested fix and still have the same problem. Bear’s ram usage today is back over 1GB after slowly building since I followed your procedure. Is there anything else I can try?
