Not able to log in on MacOS Safari

Operation system: MacOS 15.3.1

Web Browser: Safari 18.3

Bug report

What were you doing: Trying to sign in to web.bear.app with Apple on Safari/MacOS

What feature did you use: Sign in wih Apple

What happened: Got error message:

What did you expect to happen:
Correct login.
It works perfectly with (latest updates) Edge, Chrome and Firefox, on both MacOs and Windows.
I have seen same (or similar) error message in other browsers (mentioned above) when I clicked the “Sign in with Apple” button too quickly (on slow networks)

Feedback:
Have tried to disable/enable almost all security and privacy setting in Safari, but to no avail.
I do not have ADP activated.

Curious that only Safari – made by Apple, is the only browser not able to Sign in with Apple

This is definitely odd, and haven’t been able to replicate it. We’ll keep trying,

No worries, please ignore this bug, I found a great workaround:
Since it’s on MacOS, I’ll just use Bear native app :joy:

It was only for testing different browsers, and probably a moot point:

Seems like Safari is only for Apple devices where we have native Bear apps.
Apple’s support for their Windows version was pulled 2012 and last supported version: Safari 5.1.7.

Strange I tried it today on my MacBook Pro with Safari 18.3 (20620.2.4.11.5) and it worked without any problems.

I have the same problem on MacOS. Login with Chrome, Firefox no problem, Login with safari fails without any error message. After authenticating, the system still shows the login modal window.

It also does not work with Safari Technology Preview.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback regarding the log in issue. Does it always happen for you in Safari, or for example reloading the page solves the issue?

Hi there. As a software developer I tried (nearly) everything before writing a topic
I did:
a restart of safari
a restart of my mac
deleted cookies
deleted cache
tried inkognito mode

Nothing helped….

That’s super interesting (and annoying, of course). @digisoolut may I ask if you have any browser extensions installed in Safari?

Yes. Bear, 1password, wapalyzer, save to dropbox.
Shall I deactivate them and test again ?

Your instincts weren’t wrong. It’s the “Wapalyzer” extension. After disabling this extension, the login worked.

That’s very valuable info, thanks! Can’t promise anything, but we’ll have a look to try and understand what’s conflicting there.

I had to disable some extensions to be able to log in. Trying to figure out which one.

Thanks for the info @Geiir, much appreciated.

Hi, can you try again with your usual extensions set? We just released a fix that should make Bear Web more resilient to extensions activity.

Same as above, feel free to try signing in with Wapalyzer enabled. Hopefully the latest release fixed the interference.
