Is OCR for handwriting in a sketch supposed to be working or is that something that is not supported? And if it’s not currently supported, are there plans to support it?

It’s not supported. IIRC that’s a private Apple’s API and it’s not currently available to third-party developers.
Oh wow. That’s unfortunate. That’s terrible that Apple would keep this for themselves. Thanks for letting me know so I can stop expecting it from developers until Apple gets their act together.
