Whenever I import a document/note in Bear, the app automatically formats bulleted or numbered lists. I can’t find any option to disable/prevent this. Could you add this feature, please? Basically, an option to toggle ‘automatic list formatting’ on/off.
Can you give an example? What is the markdown you are pasting, and in what way do you dislike any transformation?
I am not pasting anything. My workflow is based on working with .rtf files.
If any of these documents contain paragraphs starting with ‘1.’ followed by paragraphs starting with ‘2.’, ‘3.’ etc, they get automatically formatted as numbered list when I import the document into bear.
I know that’s basically what a list is and that in 99% of the situations this behavior is very intuitive, but in my particular workflow, I do not want this automatic list formatting to happen (especially since in the original .rtf file the paragraphs were not formatted as list).
It’s very complicated to explain why I dislike this transformation. Simply put, I import .rtf files, edit them then export to .docx, which gets automatically copied into a database that does not recognize the list format (so the ‘1.’, ‘2.’, ‘3.’ etc don’t get copied).
Ok. Then I think I understand. We are unlikely to introduce an option for this, but we will see if we can figure something else out.
Can you supply us with an .rtf file that illustrates this so we know that we are looking at the right issue?
I’ve sent a private message with an example. Thank you very much for looking into this!
Thanks for reporting this issue. Bear will avoid turning non-list paragraph beginning with . into numbered lists on RTF import with the next update.
I confirm that the last update fixed this issue! Thank you so much for this! ![]()
