- Bear Version: Version 2.4 (13387)
- OS Version: iOS / iPadOS 18.3.2, macOS 15.4.1
- What happened:
I updated just the iOS version to 2.4 and edited a note by adding text to it. Then I opened the Mac app hours later, realized I didn’t update to 2.4 yet, and went to App Store to update it. Now this note I edited is shown as empty in the note list, and the note content has seemingly disappeared.
It is in this “void state”, where I’m just shown an empty note body where I can input text, but it disappears if I leave the note and come back. Exporting to e.g. markdown yields just an empty md file (0 bytes), exporting as a Bear Note yields just an empty note when double-clicked in Finder.
This affects iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
I knew the note had one specific image, and I actually managed to dig up the image from ~/Library/Group Containers/9K33E3U3T4.net.shinyfrog.bear/Application Data/Note Images/...
, so it’s still there locally on the Mac. But I don’t know how to find the note content.
Image 1: One of notes is just empty; it used to have dozens of code blocks, bunch of text, and one image.
Image 2: I can open the note, and write some text to it, but if I select some other note and come back to it, I’m back to the state that’s shown in image 1.
